 Kindergarten is a special time of transition—academically, socially, and emotionally. Each program is designed to meet Ohio’s Academic Content Standards and recognize the special developmental needs of Kindergarten children.

Space Sciences

Children of the Sun
This program focuses on the Earth, Sun and Moon, and provides the opportunity to "visit" the current night sky in the Planetarium
Follow the Drinking Gourd
Learn what the Underground Railroad was and how slaves used stars and simple folk songs to guide them north to their freedom.
Larry Cat in Space
Larry is an inquisitive cat who takes a trip to the moon and gives us a “cat’s-eye-view” of the moon, backyard astronomy, space travel and what it takes to live on another body in space.
Laser Program Legends of the Night Sky: Perseus and Andromeda
Aesop the owl and Socrates the mouse tell the ancient Greek myth of Perseus and Andromeda in a show that is humorous and filled with exciting characters. Following the show, the stars of the constellation characters are pointed out in a current night sky. SHOWN ONLY SEPTEMBER through NOVEMBER. Minimum class size is 40 students.

All Hands-On Science
Watch your students make dazzling new discoveries in the explosive world of chemistry! Kids will use the scientific method to explore and experiment with the properties of solids, liquids, and gases.
Science Senses
Colorful, noisy, sticky, smelly and tasty experiments will help students understand how the five senses help us relate to our surroundings.
Wonderful Water
Hands-on experiments and activities introduce children to the physical characteristics of water and help to fine-tune gross motor skills.

Dinosaurs, Fossils & More!
Young paleontologists will really dig this class. Kids will examine real fossils and excellent reproductions of dinosaur teeth and skin. Students will learn about dinosaurs—what they ate and why, measure out the distance to see how big they really were and why their hips make a difference. The children will also create their own fossils and build a volcano that actually erupts!

Meet the Animals
Children will meet live animals, compare and contrast animal habitats, discuss animals’ basic needs and discover the unique characteristics that make many of these creatures call Ohio home. (We cannot specify in advance which species will be used for the program).

Fun at SunWatch
Students discover the culture of the SunWatch people through sensory activities, stories, games, and a brief Museum tour.
SunWatch Kid’s Day
The Kid’s Day program is designed for daycare/childcare providers and summer youth camps. Over ten special stations are set up in the Village that highlight a morning of numerous hands-on activities, demonstrations, games and crafts. Admission includes a drink and take-home crafts.
What if I Lived at SunWatch?
Designed to allow students to experience what life might have been like for the SunWatch child. Primarily geared for the early elementary grades, the tour includes a short film and scavenger hunt in the Museum, then progresses outside through the Village. |
