Homeschool Programs

image Groups of homeschooled children can experience interactive learning first-hand with our educational programming, guided by the Ohio Academic Content Standards.

Family Lab Series:
Lively Labs (Preschool, ages 3–5 years)
Learning Labs (Ages 6–15)

At the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery
When: 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.,Tuesday & Thursday (see dates below)
Fee: $7/student for non-members, or $60/student/year

*Member Discount: $6/student/session

Children ages 3–15 years will be divided into age-appropriate groups where they will perform experiments based on different science topics. Every student will create an item to take home at the end of each class. While older children are learning, parents are invited to share learning experiences with infant to 2 year olds in our newly remodeled Kids’ PLAYce free of charge.

Note: Registration closes one week prior to each lab. Payment is due at the time of registration. Plan to arrive at the Education Center entrance 15 minutes prior to class for check-in.

2012 Lab Dates & Themes:

  • January 10 or 12 Planetary Adventure (Focus: space, planets )
  • February 7 or 9 ScienceMakers in Life Science (Focus: STEM, history, science careers)
  • March 6 or 8 Math Midway (Focus: math,  exhibit)
  • April 3 or 5 Renewable Energy (Focus: environmental science)
  • May 1 or 3 Newton’s Laws...They’re as easy as 1-2-3! (Focus: Physics) 

    There will be no Family Labs in June, July, or August due to our summer camp schedule.
  • September  4 or 6 Splash! (Focus: water cycle, conservation, history, SPLASH! exhibit)
  • October 2 or 4 EYES (Focus: anatomy, optics, safety)
  • November 6 or 8 Mystery of the Mayan Medallion (Focus: Mayan culture, archaeology, exhibit )
  • December 4 or 6 Rumbling Earth (Focus: earth science)

Attention Homeschool Groups!

Are you part of a homeschool consortium or other large homeschool group? Groups of 10 or more homeschool children can select from any of our educational program offerings at our group rates.
