RoboticsJoin the adventure at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery! Spend time each week learning, experimenting, discovering, and creating with our education staff at the Museum. 

FIRST Lego League Robotics

Be part of a team! Learn to design, build and program a robot and solve missions—all as part of FIRST Lego League Robotics. Participate in local and regional tournaments, then see how far your team can go! Is the World FLL Competition calling? Get your minds and robots revved up for a fun and exciting good time! 

For ages 9–14.

FLL is a ten-week program that begins each fall; practice schedules are set once teams are formed. A one time fee of $85 covers instruction/coaching, materials, computers and software, T-shirts, and all FLL registration fees. Scholarships are available.  Learn more.

FIRST VEX Robotics

Take robotics to the extreme! Bend metal, build robots, program, create presentations, and use teamwork to pull together your extreme robot for use in head-to-head sporting type events. You and your teammates will travel to a regional tournament to compete in a multi-state competition.

A.S.C. (Afterschool Science Club) Grades 4-8

Active Image Science is all about asking questions, seeking answers – and having fun while doing it! Go behind the scenes at the Museum for hands-on learning experiments. Chat with scientists working around the world and learn to use science technologies as you explore a wide range of topics, including: robotics, astronomy, animals, cooking, forensics, mummies, and engineering.

Fee: $10.00 per week or $40.00 per month; $5.00 per month discount for families enrolling multiple siblings.

Program Times: Thursdays, 4:00-5:30 p.m.

No Limits! Science for Kids

Children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade can meet once a week, after school for science fun and excitement! Watch your child light up as they learn to program and build real robots, experiment with magnets and electricity, take an insect safari, mix chemical concoctions, and more. They’ll be having fun and you’ll know they’re getting a head start in their education.

Fee: $10/week or $40/month; $5/month discount for multiple siblings.

Dates: September 8, 2010 through May 19, 2011.

Time: Wednesdays OR Thursdays; 4:00 p.m.–5:30 p.m.
