Program for Preschoolers 2 – 4 years
The My Family & Me classes are guided hands-on science exploration for parents and their children ages 2 years-4 years old. Each month we will offer a different themed class that has the sciences as its foundation. This is the perfect opportunity to help spark your child’s love for science early in his/her development.
Classes are held on the first Monday of each month from 12:30p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
A half-hour of class time is self-guided in the Museum.
Fee: $10.00 for one child/one adult, plus $5.00 for each additional child/adult
Maximum class size is 10 children/ 10 adults
Minimum class size: 5 children/5 adults

Funny Physics
January 4
Puzzle out how to make a flinker, not a floater or a sinker with your child with this fun and thought-provoking experiment. Race balloons two stories high and make working catapults.
Science Senses
February 1
Awaken your child’s sensory skills with this fun and gooey class. You and your child will participate in 5 fun and messy experiments involving sight, taste, touch, hearing and smell.
Go Green Machines
March 1
Kids will love building their own moving creations out of recycled materials. As well as building vehicles that move by wind and water power. Have your child become the first toddler to invent the new alternative energy source!
Dinosaurs
April 5
Young Paleontologists will really dig this class on dinosaurs. Measure out how BIG dinosaurs really where. Observe real fossils and specimens. Kids will also make their own fossils and build volcanoes that really erupt!
Bubbleology
May 3
Budding Bubbleologists will pop with excitement, learning how to make the perfect bubble solution and bubble-making instruments.
Bugs – Bugs – Bugs!
June 7
Help your child discover the excitement and diversity of the planet’s largest population. Touch bugs, collect bugs, study bugs! Learn the parts of an insect. See insects magnified 200 times their normal size.
July – Sorry! No classes due to Summer Programming. Learn more about 2010 summer camp opportunities, available online after February 26.
Water Creatures
August 2
Ready to get wet and muddy? Help your child catch and release creatures big and small that reside in our pond: tadpoles, frogs, insects, and the wee little critters that you can only see with a microscope.
Chemistry Kids
September 6
Does your little one love to mix up different concoctions at home? Little chemists will discover how to mix many safe chemicals and get BIG reactions! Children will learn about the 4 states of matter and use 3 of these states to create something new.
My Mummy & Me
October 4
Children will learn the science behind mummification, mummify apples, and turn small stuffed animals into mummies to take home. Plus, meet Boonshoft’s beloved 2,800 yr. old mummy, Nesiur.
How Does It Work?
November 1
Take apart small household appliances and electronic toys to see what’s inside and how it works. Kids will be using real tools and screwdrivers with adult supervision.
Brrrr…Experiments
December 6
Experiment making beautiful ice sculptures, make and take insta-snow, make a polar bear paw to wear that withstands freezing temperature! (Snow experiments will also be preformed if weather permits.)
