The Museum could not serve this community without the support of dedicated volunteers. From teens working towards National Honor Society requirements, to parents hoping to give to their child’s favorite destination, to Seniors with decades of talent and knowledge they are eager to share, the Boonshoft’s volunteer program is designed to match every skill and desire in the appropriate capacity.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Boonshoft Museum and SunWatch

The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery and SunWatch Indian Village/Archaeological Park are committed to being the premier place in the region for people to explore the many wonders of the world. Our volunteers are committed to excellence! Meet new people, enjoy the surroundings, be a leader and have fun!

We do not require you to volunteer a set number of hours each month, but do like to set up a rotating schedule that fits your needs and those of the Museum. There is a required volunteer orientation for all new volunteers that will take about two hours. We review Society policies and safety policies and tour the Museum and meet staff members. Adult Volunteers

Volunteers are needed in all areas of the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery and at SunWatch Indian Village/Archaeological Park. Please contact us to find out about working with our education staff, live animals, or our administrative team.

Youth Volunteers

Youth ages 14-17 are needed in many areas. Our youth volunteer program offers a chance to contribute to the community and the Museum. Young people can gain valuable experiences such as the development of teamwork skills and exposure to a work environment.

Internships

Internships at the Boonshoft Museum or SunWatch are designed to provide students with practical experience. Interns may work in a variety of settings and learn about the overall structure and daily operations of the Museum and SunWatch, earning academic credit and gaining hands-on experience along the way.

Groups

The Boonshoft Museum and SunWatch can work with you to design a volunteer opportunity for your organization, club or group. Please allow 4–6 weeks for planning.
