	The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery’s Featured Exhibits are designed to creatively balance fun and knowledge by engaging visitors in interactive elements to explain innovative and important subject matter in an understandable style to visitors of all ages. The Museum’s Featured Exhibits are carefully selected 3-4 years in advance by the Society's Exhibits Committees. The committee tries to ensure that Featured Exhibits are selected from a broad range of educational and scientific disciplines, and include interesting topics for our diverse memberships, as well as assuring relevancy to societal trends and educational needs.



	Crime Lab Detectives September 26, 2009 – January 3, 2010 From the first clue of a shattered window, Crime Lab Detectives invites visitors to search for forensic clues and weigh the evidence to solve a true-to-life crime. Lift fingerprints, examine DNA, and document the scene of the crime as you sleuth your way through this CSI-style exhibition and learn what it takes to be a modern day detective. 	Space Adventures September 26, 2009–January 3, 2010 Explore the coldest reaches of space and dream of alien encounters, too-cool-to-be-believed gadgets, and the surreal landscapes of distant planets. Imagine traveling among the stars as you re-live the tales of your favorite fictional space adventurers and try to picture just what might be “out there” as you build a moon base, space station, space ship, or even go on a Galaxy Quest! 	Earth Movers and Artisans: The Hopewell People of Southern Ohio Showing September 18, 2009- January 18, 2010 Discover the ancient peoples of the Ohio Valley region as you travel to times long past when mammoths and mastodons roamed the earth and learn of the first people in North America. Delve into the lives of the Hopewell people and their magnificent mounds, earthworks and trading routes. Explore the Fort Ancient culture and learn about the lives of Ohio's first farmers. Learn about the historic tribes and their struggles as Europeans entered the Ohio region. Discover the ancient past of Ohio in Earth Movers and Artisans: the Hopewell of Southern Ohio. This exhibition was created by the Collections Department of the Dayton Society of Natural History.



	The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is a children’s museum, science/technology center, and accredited zoo and also houses a Planetarium and an observatory. Visitors of all ages can explore, play and be inspired by permanent exhibits which include the Bernouilli Blower, Explorers Crossing, the Water Table, the Color Wall, a pioneer cabin, and over 60 animals native to Ohio.
