As you will see from the brief descriptions below, the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is a vibrant, interactive science center, children's museum, accredited zoo and Planetarium. Kids, teens, adults and scholars use our resources to further their understanding of science and technology.
The Department curates a highly diverse collection numbering well over 1,400,000 items gathered from around the world for the past 100 years.

The majority of the collection consists of materials excavated during decades of archaeological research in the Miami Valley, including many items from the SunWatch site.

This Department consists of Hall of the Universe displays, a Planetarium and an Observatory. Through daily programs and outreach, the community gains a better understanding of our world.

This Department is a repository for thousands of specimens from Ohio and around the world. Items are collected and preserved for scientific research and graduate studies.

Mounted Birds
The Geology department contains rocks, minerals, fossils and meteorites from around the world, spanning prehistoric times through the present and from Earth to outer space.

Geo Slide
This area highlights the amazing variety of wild animals in Ohio. This AZA accredited-zoo is home for nearly one hundred animals including a bobcat, coyote and river otters.

Introduces young people to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building knowledge and life skills. Teams solve problems using engineering concepts, research techniques and robots.
