Be a part of FIRST LEGO® League at the Boonshoft Museum!
FIRST LEGO LEAGUE

What is FLL? FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) introduces young people, ages 9-14, to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge and life skills. FLL challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. Alongside adult mentors, team members work together to solve problems using engineering concepts, research presentation techniques and build robots to meet challenges.

What does an FLL team do? Boonshoft Teams participate in an eleven week season, during which teams research, build and program robots, culminating in sports-like tournaments during December. Practice schedules vary, but are generally held in the evenings in the Boonshoft Museum’s Education Lobby.

When can I sign up for FLL? Each August, new teams are formed during the open registration period. Traditionally, registration OPENS the first week in August and CLOSES the last week of August. Specific dates will be posted on this page as they are set for the season.

How much does it cost to participate? Annual fee for participation is $85/student. This includes entry fees for competitions, team shirts, entry in two FLL competitions. The fun is FREE!

Can I request a specific team or coach? Requests for placement on specific teams or coaches will be considered, but cannot be guaranteed. Returning participants are given first chance to return to their team from the previous year, but can choose to change teams.
