How People Make Things

May 29–September 6, 2010
Explore the people, ideas, and technology used to transform raw materials into finished products. In a world where things often seem to magically appear on store shelves, this exhibition goes directly to the “factory floor” where participants can mold, cut, form, and assemble materials to learn how things are made. Pour liquid wax into a mold, press forms from a die cutter, and use vacuum force to create a bowl to take home!
How People Make Things was created by Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh in collaboration with Family Communications, Inc. and the University of Pittsburgh Center for Learning in Out of School Environments with support from the National Science Foundation and the Grable Foundation.
