IMPORTANT REGISTRATION CHANGE!!!

Registration for ALL JULY CAMPS will open JUNE 11 @ 9am for members - JUNE 14 @ 9am to the public, and will close once the maximum camper allotment has been reached.

Important Registration Information: 

  • There is NO CODE needed for member discounts; rates are reduced when the member number is added to the form.
  • Except for Field School, all camp registration takes place on one page, and you may register multiple campers for multiple camps at one time.
  • Registration for each camp closes once the maximum camper allotment has been reached.
  • To provide a great experience for all campers, the age requirements for each camp are FIRM, and based on the camper's age as of June 1, 2021.
  • Therefore, you will be required to enter the Date of Birth for each camper during registration. Note that you will only see the camps for which that camper is eligible, based on DOB.

Jr. Scientist STEM Camps

Do you have an early elementary, kindergarten or preschool aged child who has a natural affinity for science and nature? Indulge their curiosity in our all new Jr. Scientist STEM Camps! For children ages 4 and 5, there are afternoon half-day camps, and for those a little older at 6 and 7, full day camps are offered.  
Ages 4 and 5: half day, 12:30pm-3:30pm: non-member$125/member$120
Ages 6 and 7:
full day, 8:30am-3:30pm: non-member$199/member$189

STEM Camps

Who knows STEM better than the Boonshoft? It’s our mission! From Astronomy to Zoology, your 8 to 14 year old will see the STEM in every discipline!

STEM Adventure Camps

For campers who are ready for advanced opportunities in STEM, these new STEM Adventures are the way to go! Designed for slightly older and advanced campers, these camps include advanced materials and a Friday late-night experience to enhance the area of STEM they are interested in the most.
Ages 10 – 14: full day, 8:30am-3:30pm Wednesday-Friday; 6:00pm-11:00pm Friday only: non-member$350/member$340

STEM Adventure camps with overnight experiences out of town! Topics will include Zoo Keeping, Astronomy and Geology. Full descriptions, pricing, and field trip locations to be released January 2022.
To qualify for the next level of STEM Adventures, campers will be required to have participated in a Summer 2021 STEM Adventure.

Jr. Scientists: Think like a Scientist - SOLD OUT
12:30pm – 3:30pm
Ages 4-5
Get ready to put on safety glasses and conduct incredible, wacky and fun experiments! From animals to simple machines and from nature studies to chemistry, there is something to interest every budding scientist. Your camper will learn to predict outcomes, ask questions, and investigate answers through the hands-on science of chemical reactions, engineering and exploring nature!

Jr. Scientists: Cultural Archeology - SOLD OUT
8:30am - 3:30pm
Ages 6-7
Join us as we travel back in time to explore ancient cultures from around the World. Learn how mummies were made by Ancient Egyptians, how bows and arrows were made by Native Americans 800 years ago, and take a tour of the Anthropology Collections!

STEM Camp: The Unofficial Minecraft Camp - SOLD OUT
8:30am-3:30pm
Ages 8-11
Leave the video game at home and explore the world of Minecraft through hands-on STEAM activities, challenges, and quests. Each day we will explore different Minecraft themes such as biomes, potions, engineering, and more. Throughout the week we will build armor to take home on Friday.

Jr. Scientists: Backyard Explorer - SOLD OUT
12:30pm – 3:30pm
Ages 4-5
Nature has a lot of secrets—let’s grab our magnifying glasses and figure them out!  Explore the creatures of the pond, critters that fly, the world beneath our feet, and the slimiest stuff around. Young learners will earn a different patch each day!

Jr. Scientists: Jr. Zookeeper - SOLD OUT
8:30am – 3:30pm
Ages 6 -7
Do you have a young camper interested in a career in animal care? Introduce them to the basics of the profession as they learn about the different animals found in the Boonshoft’s Discovery Zoo. Campers will learn more about natural habitats, special animal characteristics, and how the Discovery Zoo team cares for well over 100 different animals every day.

STEM Camp: First Kid on Mars - SOLD OUT
8:30am – 3:30pm
Ages 8-11
After the first astronauts visit Mars, eventually there will be a colony there. If you were going to live on Mars for the rest of your life, how would you prepare? What would you bring? What would you look forward to doing on Mars? Campers will learn about the special equipment and techniques needed on Mars, design their habitat there, and envision life on another planet!


July 12 – 16

Jr. Scientists: Build, Create, Move 
12:30pm – 3:30pm
Ages 4-5
Do you like to design, build, and fix things? Then this camp is for you! Learn what makes buildings strong, who nature’s best engineers are, and how things move. Put your thinking cap on and get ready to learn how things work!

Jr. Scientists: Coasters, Cars, and Collisions 
8:30am – 3:30pm
Ages 6 -7
Learn the ins and outs of your favorite amusement park rides. Test your race car building skills! Push the limits of all your designs, set records, and build your own amusement park or racetrack while learning the physics and feats of engineering used to make these amazing rides and vehicles a reality.

STEM Camp: Zookeeping 101 - SOLD OUT
8:30am – 3:30pm
Ages 8-11
Are you dreaming of a future career as a Zoo Keeper?  Campers will gain skills that will be helpful in the field of zoology; animal observation, general biology, nutrition, medicine, behavioral training, and exhibit design. 


July 14 - 16

STEM Adventure: Urban Astronomy
8:30am – 3:30pm Wednesday - Friday, 6:00pm-10:30pm (Friday only)
Ages 10 – 14
Is your child interested in astronomy, but you live in the city? It turns out that there are plenty of ways to observe the sky despite light pollution. We will explore observing targets like planets, the moon, bright stars, and constellations. The camp concludes with a stargazing late-night experience at SunWatch Indian Village. There is so much to see, once you know what to look for! 

ATTENTION: This camp runs Wednesday, July 14 to Friday, July 16. Wednesday and Thursday are normal 8:30am to 3:30pm hours. Drop off on Friday is at 8:30am, and campers will need to be transported to SunWatch Indian Village in the afternoon for the late-night experience. Details about late-night items will be sent following registration. 


July 19 - 23

Jr. Scientists: Kids in Space - SOLD OUT
12:30pm – 3:30pm
Ages 4-5
Join us on a weeklong adventure as we travel straight to the Moon! More than fifty years after the original landing on the Moon, you will learn the science of how the first astronauts were able to make the trip.  You will explore the stars, learn what it takes to be an astronaut, and ultimately step foot on the Moon.

Jr. Scientists: Gotta Catch'em All - SOLD OUT
8:30am – 3:30pm
Ages 6 -7
Did you know many of your favorite Pokémon characters are based on science?  Everyday take a look at two of your favorite Pokémon characters from the Red/Blue/Yellow series such as Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Pikachu.  At the end of camp create your very own Pokémon to show off to your friends and family.  It will be a shocking good time!

STEM Camp: Your Turn! The Board Game Camp - SOLD OUT
8:30am – 3:30pm
Ages 8-11
Step away from the screen and into a board game! In this camp, you will learn about different types of modern board games and how they rely on math, logic, and strategy. You will use what you learn to design and construct your own game that you can take home at the end of the week. Board games can help you develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills — all while having fun and socializing!


July 26 – 30

Jr. Scientists: Wild Kratts - SOLD OUT
12:30pm – 3:30pm
Ages 4-5
Time to put your creature suits on Kratts Kids!  Earn your creature disks as we will travel through different animal habitats from around the globe and explore the animals that live there.  But watch out!  We may have to save a few animals on our adventures!  During this camp we will learn about animals from the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery’s Discovery Zoo and so much more! Dress as your favorite animal on Friday for a creature adventure! New animals and adventure for 2020!

Jr. Scientists: Bibbidi Bobbidi Science

Ages 6 -7
You are invited to the Wonderful World of Boonshoft! Let your imagination soar while we imagine, create, and explore the world of science through the eyes of many of your favorite animated characters. 

STEM Camp: Wizard Science - SOLD OUT
8:30am – 3:30pm
Ages 8-11
Grab your cloaks and get ready for a magical and scientific journey through the wizard world! Explore potions, care for animals, make wands, duel, and learn astronomy.  This will be a magical week!


July 28 - 30

STEM Adventure: Experimental Archaeology (SunWatch) 
8:30am – 3:30pm
Ages 10 – 14
Join a real archaeologist at SunWatch Indian Village to explore and identify insects, plants, and mammals—both modern and prehistoric! Explore the Fort Ancient culture in prehistoric Ohio by experimenting with the theories of what it would be like to live in the Miami Valley 800 years ago.  Learn to make stone tools, play games from long ago, and how to build a house from wood, thatch and daub. Friday evening activities include cooking a meal similar to what was cooked in the past!

ATTENTION: Campers will spend a great deal of time outside and should be dressed accordingly; guidelines will be provided. There are no trips off site in this experience.


ATTENTION PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Please plan to provide your camper(s) with a peanut-free bagged lunch. Microwaves and refrigerators are not available, so please do not pack lunches that require heating, and pack perishable items with an ice pack.

The maximum attendance per camp is 20 students; minimum attendance per camp is 8.

All registrations for summer camps at the Boonshoft Museum are considered final and no refunds will be issued.
You may transfer your camper to a different camp for an additional $25 administrative fee. No transfers are permitted once your camp begins.
We reserve the right to cancel a program for any reason, but will issue a full refund in the event this occurs. You will be notified no later than the Friday before your camp begins.
STEM Camps at The Boonshoft Museum and SunWatch Indian Village are peanut free.

The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA).
