This geologic exhibit will “rock your students’ world” with hands-on stations that will allow exploration of rocks, minerals, fossils and soils. The presentation provides a study of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks with additional activities that expand on geology in culture, art and entertainment.

Through direction from the Children’s Medical Center, this exhibit will enlighten the students to an alarming trend in America -- obesity. Proper food choices, portion control and exercise will be offered as solutions to this problem.

T.R.A.S.H. demonstrates the many processes of Recycling, Reducing and Reusing (the "3R's") and its effects on the planet and our environment. Students learn about renewable vs. non-renewable resources, categorize the types of recyclable materials, recognize the importance of landfills and the life cycles of various waste, and discover creative ways to recycle at home and in the classroom. Products, pictures and packaging are used to help students learn to make cents and sense by reusing. T.R.A.S.H. was developed in cooperation with and funded by the Montgomery County Solid Waste District.

program brought to you through the generosity of KeyBank. Did you know in 1792 Congress passed the Coinage Act and the first federal building, the U.S. Mint, was built in Philadelphia? Using fun facts, historical figures, and even magic tricks, young students will learn about finances and the importance of saving. We tend our gardens and plants to help them grow; now we need to tend to our finances!

Do our oceans seem miles away? This new marine life and habitat exhibit will bring our oceanic world to life in the Miami Valley. Students will learn to appreciate the diverse undersea life through Museum specimens and see how their special adaptations enhance the undersea world.

How often are we hearing about the problems of UV rays? Rhinos use mud as a natural sunblock, chimpanzees avoid the peak hours of the sun, “only mad dogs & Englishmen” go out in the mid-day sun, and there is even a song called “Everybody’s Free (to wear sunscreen).” Through fun glasses and interactive centers students will have a first-hand look at the danger of UV exposure and find ways to protect themselves.
