Robotics Program

Introduces young people to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building knowledge and life skills. Teams solve problems using engineering concepts, research techniques and robots.

FIRST LEGO® League

Be a part of FIRST LEGO® LEAGUE (FLL) at the Boonshoft Museum!  FLL introduces young people, ages 9-14, to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge and life skills. FLL challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. Alongside adult mentors, teams solve problems using engineering concepts, research presentation techniques and robots.

Download and complete the registration form to join one of many Boonshoft Teams participating in eleven weeks of hands-on building and research that culminates in sports-like tournaments during December.

Mark your calendar! 2012 Season Deadlines and Important Dates:

  • Friday, August 3 - Registration Opens (DOWNLOAD Registration Form)
  • Friday, August 24, 5:00 p.m. - Registration forms due to the Education Department
  • Friday, August 31, 5:00 p.m. - Confirmation for individual child registration will be sent to parents/guardians.
  • Friday, September 7, 5:30 p.m. - Meet the Team at the Boonshoft Museum (Education Lobby)
  • Saturday, November 10, 9:00 a.m.-noon - Local Competition (Education Lobby)
  • Saturday, December 8, noon-3:00 p.m. - Regional Robotics Competition at the Boonshoft Museum (Education Lobby)

Become a Coach/Mentor for a Boonshoft Museum FLL Team

Volunteers are an essential element to the success of the FLL programs. Adult coaches are needed to build teamwork and communication skills and to foster an attitude of graciousness in competition. Mentors with technical expertise assist teams in troubleshooting problems and guiding the team toward creative solutions.
